The first Future Trends: Beer and Cider event organised by the Publican’s Morning Advertiser (PMA) will be held in London on 22 June and will arm the trade with insight into the sector’s latest new product development and innovation.

A microscopic view of how the US’s craft beer movement shook the States and how it is likely to affect the future of the UK’s craft beer and cider scenes will be given by headline speaker Bob Pease, president and CEO of the Brewers Association.

Pease said: “Craft breweries in the UK are certainly making inroads in the pub sector, where more independent establishments can be found and even the chain pubs are carrying a few craft handles and some packaged products, but accessibility can still be improved.”

Exclusive research covering what licensees want from new product development will also be revealed by CGA Strategy’s commercial director Graeme Loudon at the event, which is supported by headline sponsor Heineken.

Beer and Cider trends across the world

Euromonitor’s senior alcoholic drinks analyst Spiros Malandrakis will delve into beer and cider trends from other parts of the world and try to determine how they could impact the UK.

An esteemed panel will also discuss how the sector can boost beer and cider sales in casual dining through pairing them with food. The panel includes Simon Stenning executive director of PMA’s sister title MCA, beer educator Jane Peyton and There’s a Beer For That’s Neil Gannon.

Top beer blogger and author Pete Brown will use his insight, along with some beer and cider samples for delegates, to showcase how cider can make a bigger play of ‘craft’ and create a buzz similar to the one seen in beer.

Interactive sessions on the day will show delegates how they can make cocktails using cider and ‘beertails’, with session leaders including cocktail experts from a major national chain of bars.

Also, British Beer and Pub Association chief executive Brigid Simmonds will outline the future challenges of taxation on the beer and cider sector and what the organisation is doing to help combat the strain.

When and where?
