JD Wetherspoon will return to its roots when it opens a site in London next week following a £3m investment.

The Mossy Well will open in Muswell Hill – where owner-founder Tim Martin opened his first pub.

The site was previously used for pub The Village and as the Express Dairy Building.

The new-look pub is set over two floors and feature two bars two Victorian fireplaces, uncovered on site, restored and in use again.

The pub displays photos and details of local history and buildings, and original local art including a paper sculpture, paintings, photography and a sculpted timber cow.

There are terraces to the front and rear of the pub, a courtyard garden to the rear incorporating the external ‘milk float’ bar.  The garden features a 'secret woodland', with semi-mature trees and a water feature.

The new pub will specialise in real ales, craft and world beers, draught ales, bottled beers, including those from local and regional brewers.

It will be open for family dining, with children accompanied by an adult welcome in the pub up until 9pm throughout the week.

The Wetherspoon pub, which will be called The Mossy Well, will be managed by Genevieve Gardiner, who said: “Myself and my team are looking forward to welcoming customers into the pub and we are confident that it will be a great addition to the Muswell Hill community.”

The Mossy Well will be open from 8am-midnight Sunday to Thursday and 8-1am on Friday and Saturday.

Food will be served throughout the day, from opening until 11pm, every day. The opening on 13 October will create 40 new jobs.

The pub will be wheelchair accessible and have a specially-adapted ‘Changing Places’ WC for people with disabilities, as well as those who are unable to use standard accessible toilets.
