Country's biggest LVA shuts down and launches new Norfolk support fund

The long-established organisation, which for many years was the biggest LVA in the country and which had been supporting the pub trade in the area since 1854, is being dissolved.

As a result, the association has made a decision to donate its remaining funds of £13,000 to the LTC. The money will be used to help people in the trade across the country, and the members of the association will carry on fundraising for the charity through its annual events.

The handover was formally made at the N&NLVA's popular Steak & Kidney Dinner, held at the Unthank Arms in Norwich on 12 January.

The LTC's Support & Care service provides practical help on a wide range of issues including money, health, housing and family matters. The charity supports people who work in or have retired from licensed drinks trade and to date, has helped many people in the Norfolk area.

Legacy​

Liz Gaffer, director of marketing and charity services, said: "The fund set up by the Norwich and Norfolk LVA will provide financial support to an estimated 10-15 people who work in pubs and breweries every year. 

"This support might be getting someone into accommodation if they have nowhere to live, or paying for a cooker if they don’t have one or indeed the cost of getting to hospital for essential treatments. Whilst it’s always a shame when organisations like this close, the legacy of their support and fundraising in the past will live on through the support they provide to more people in pubs and breweries in the future."
