The Queen's Head in Iron Cross, near Evesham, Worcestershire, which is the home of the Fat God's microbrewery, has been placed on the market.

The pub dates from 1797 and is in a popular tourist area, just five miles from Evesham and nine miles from Stratford-upon-Avon.

Brewing was started at the pub by licensee Andy Miller in 1997. Since then he has worked hard to promote real ale in the area and the pub has received many accolades for the ales it brews.

The Queen's Head was voted joint winner of the Shakespeare area CAMRA Pub of the Year 2000, was outright winner in 1999 and was voted West Midlands Community Pub of the Year in 1998.

It runs an annual 10-day beer festival in late June and holds frequent fundraising events for charities and local organisations.

The capacity of the microbrewery has doubled since it opened and about three quarters of production is drunk at the pub - although the beers can also be found in quite a few other outlets in Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Warwickshire.

The pub is for sale with offers over £500,000 for the freehold, while the brewery is being offered at £35,000.
