The Publican Newspaper has picked up the top accolade of Publication of the Year in the Business Food & Drink Journalist Awards.

The awards, sponsored by Britvic Soft Drinks in association with the Periodical Publishing Association (PPA), recognise outstanding editorial and journalism.

The Publican won for its quality editorial along with its entire portfolio including the highly successful Publican Awards and website thePublican.com.

Making the presentation, Ian Locks, chief executive of the PPA, said: "The Publican demonstrated strong innovation coupled with a huge brand extension programme.

"It's clear that this title is not afraid of trying new things and taking risks. It was this entrepreneurial mindset that excited the judges and tipped the balance."

Lorna Harrison, Editor-in-Chief of The Publican Newspaper, said after the event: "The award reflects the hard work by the entire Publican team and their huge commitment and dedication to our industry."
