A unique glass wall installed at the Telegraph pub in Newcastle aims to dramatically increase the amount of time customers can drink in its popular rooftop garden.

The wall reflects warm air from the pub's outdoor patio heaters, creating comfortable drinking temperatures all year round.

Licensee David Collins and his business partner Jon Haugh have been able to install the wall thanks to sponsorship from Coors Brewers - the specially designed glass installation features discrete Carling logos.

The rooftop garden offers spectacular views across Tyneside, and has become a focal point for the pub since it was refurbished last year. Mr Collins said: "We have had a fabulous year since reopening the Telegraph, with many customers commenting on the interior glass décor. Now we are set to go a stage further.

"The wall will be floodlit at night to provide our customers with a spectacular setting and ensure they can remain outdoors even when the temperature starts to dip."

Coors' £7,000 investment in the wall represents its interest in unusual, carefully-targeted sponsorship opportunities within the pub sector.

Nightclub and venue bar account manager Roy Sutton said: "We are looking at a new style of upmarket, tailored point-of-sale marketing in our more high profile accounts, and the Telegraph was an ideal venue for this type of concept."
