Tikka look at Freshbake

British favourite chicken tikka features in the new ready-to-bake pastry product from Freshbake Foods.

Baughans Chicken Tikka Slice contains pieces of chicken in a tikka sauce, made from tomato, onion, cream and spices, in a light puff pastry casing.

The slice can be sold plated, as part of a meal or as a snack.

Each takes about 30 minutes to bake from frozen.

Vegetarian variety

Red Pepper Bake has been added to Emile Tissot's range of frozen ready meals in response to the increasing demand for quality vegetarian food.

The bake consists of new potatoes and roasted red peppers in a sun-dried tomato and cream cheese sauce, topped with mozzarella and herb croutons. Each portion costs £2.30.

Emile Tissot has also reformulated its Vegetable Stroganoff, swapping conventional vegetables with more appealing ingredients such as broccoli florets, brandy and paprika. It is available in packs of 12 and each portion costs £1.65.

What a Surprise

Toffee Surprise is the new addition to Maynard Scotts' freezer-to-table range, which was designed to bridge the gap between traditional cakes and ice cream.

The Toffee Surprise has a chocolate brownie base filled with toffee mousse and swirled with toffee sauce. It is then topped with vanilla mousse, toffee fudge drops and more toffee sauce.

With no need to defrost, there is no risk of waste from unsold product. Raspberry and Strawberry Medley and Chocolate Challenge are already available in the range.

Chocolate drop

The UK's number one chocolate bar, Cadbury Dairy Milk, is being marketed with a special offer for a limited time.

Confectionery company Cadbury Trebor Bassett is turning the clock back to 1991 and offering price-marked bars for 25p - a saving of 10p on the usual price of a 49g bar.

The promotion offers good value to retailers because the low price will encourage customers to try the product, something that is often reflected in an increase in sales after the promotion ends.

This is particularly good for pubs, which are not traditionally seen as confectionery retailers.

A range of point-of-sale material has been developed to help licensees make the most of the offer.

They are available in packs of 12.
