It's not un-brewsual for Tom Jones to choose Brains

Wales' favourite son Tom Jones ordered in his favourite Welsh beer for a recent TV appearance.

Brains bitter, produced by Wales' largest independent brewer SA Brain, was on Tom's list when he appeared on BBC1's Friday Night with Jonathan Ross.

A BBC spokeswoman said: "Last time Tom was a guest, he mentioned that he liked a pint of Brains but it was too late for us to get some - this time, we wanted to make sure that we had his favourite drink waiting for him when he arrived."

The latest celebrity endorsement for Brains follows reports it was served to guests at the wedding of Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas. Welsh first minister Rhodri Morgan also raised a pint of SA to toast his birthday earlier this year.

Stewart Dobson, Brains group marketing manager, said the brewery was delighted to add Tom to its list of celebrity fans.

He said: "Like Brains, Tom has a huge association with Wales and its people and we're pleased to see that even though he now spends much of his time away from the country, he hasn't forgotten how good a pint of his favourite Welsh beer tastes."
