Park Taverns, the Oxfordshire pub company, has sold the Cricketers Rest in Queens Road, Norwich, to Tager Inns. Norfolk-based Tager Inns now has 11 pubs and has plans to buy another nine in the area. The company was formed by Neil Gear in 1999 when he bought his first two pubs in Great Yarmouth, the Mitre in George Street and the Norfolk Tavern in Crown Road. Agent Fleurets handled the sale.

Triple Total, the South West-based operator, that runs the Remedies brand, has bought Trelawneys nightclub in central Helston and the Watermans freehouse in Falmouth. Both sites will continue to trade in their existing style and the current management will be retained. Agent Scott Burridge Chick Leisure handled the sales.

Ocean Bar, a marine-themed site on the High Street in Croydon, is up for sale through agent Fleurets. It is a three-storey building with trading areas on the ground floor and basement. Its main bar is open-plan and has a servery to one side. It was refurbished about a year ago and is decorated in a ocean theme. Offers in excess of £300,000 are being sought for the premises. The Folly Inn outside the village of Adstock in Buckinghamshire has been trading as a pub since the 1800s. The country inn has brick fireplaces and framed ceilings with a lounge bar and 32-seat restaurant, 12 en suite letting rooms and a three-bedroom owner's accommodation. The site also has a catering kitchen, trade garden and car park. Leisure complex Wyke Down near Andover in Hampshire is a former farm which has been coverted into commercial use. As part of the development a traditional farm building, which has been made into a pub, is now up for sale. It includes a 100-cover restaurant and function room. Nearby is the four-bedroom Wyke Down farmhouse, 12 acres of caravan park and an eight acre golfing range. The whole freehold site is available through HLL Humberts Leisure, with a guide price of £1.5m.

The leisure property industry has named its top operators of the year at the 2002 Leisure Property Awards. Club and bar operator Luminar was named Best Nightclub Operator, sponsored by DTZ Debenham Tie Leung, while pizza restaurant chain Ask was Best Food and Beverage Operator, sponsored by Shelley Sandzer. Birmingham's Star City development, which struggled when it first opened a couple of years ago and is home to several high street retail brands, won the Leisure Marketing Campaign of the Year award. Best Mixed Use Leisure Scheme, sponsored by David Coffer Lyons, was The Light in Leeds, while Best Family Entertainment Centre Operator, sponsored by Whitbread Restaurants, was Megabowl. Best Leisure Consultancy team was Jones Lang LaSalle.
