The Foxhunter's Inn in the village of West Down, on the A361 between Barnstaple and Ilfracombe, is within easy reach of the golden sandy beaches of Woolacombe, Croyde and Putsborough and the Exmoor National Park. Graham Toms and Sue Wallis have sold the outlet in order to pursue other business interests. When they took over the pub in September 1999 it had ceased trading, and they have since successfully established a thriving trade, which is currently split 60% in favour of food sales, 30% wet and 10% accommodation. The detached property comprises a large bar area, 60-cover restaurant, refitted commercial kitchen, eight double en-suite letting bedrooms and an optional ninth single room. In the grounds there is a beer garden with children's play area, a large car park for 80 cars and a detached, fully-licensed takeaway unit, comprising commercial kitchen, café and three-bedroom apartment. There is also a detached three-bedroom owner's bungalow situated behind the property. The purchasers of the Fox-hunter's are Pauline and Nick Webb, from Hook in Hampshire. Although they have previously run successful businesses in that county, this is their first pub purchase. The Foxhunter's Inn was sold for an undisclosed figure from an asking price of £625,000.
