The Bryn Howel Hotel at Llangollen in North Wales has changed hands after 40 years in the same family ownership. The outlet had been run most recently by Anne and John Lloyd. With its mature parkland setting and glorious views along the Vale of Llangollen, Bryn Howel is a beautiful three-star country hotel in 4.5 acres of formal gardens and grounds. The hotel has 36 en-suite bedrooms and a wealth of well preserved original features throughout its extensive public rooms. It enjoys a huge local following and is especially popular for wedding receptions and other private functions. The new owners are Barry and Susan Cohen, who live locally. Speaking on the day of completion, Barry Cohen said: "We are thrilled that we have been able to purchase Bryn Howel and glad that we have retained all of the existing staff. It is our intention to maintain the excellent reputation of the hotel and all of the goodwill associated with it." The hotel was sold by the Manchester office of Robert Barry & Co. Director Chris Moore said: "The Bryn Howel has been well cared for over a great many years and so it was no surprise that there was tremendous interest shown. "We wish Barry and Susan every success for the future". The hotel had been offered for sale at a guide price of £1.5m for the freehold.
