A fantastic new Mini Cheddars 150g sharing tub range will be available across all trade channels from June 2003. In addition, the surprisingly satisfying snack from UB Foodservice will introduce its successful Peperami flavour as a permanent addition to its 50g Handypack range also from June.

SHARING TUBS​Mark Bosomworth, UB Foodservice Director says: "Mini Cheddars product may be small in size but its strong range offers mighty profit opportunities for foodservice operators. The range has a high level of consumer demand and its sales are growing +18% YTD. Now, with the new sharing tubs, it will be able to satisfy a host of different usage occasions. Research shows more bagged snacks are eaten between 4pm and 9pm than at any other time of the day, therefore there is a huge sales potential for operators to exploit the sharing occasion."

The new Mini Cheddars tubs are ideal for sharing with friends, whatever the occasion. The packaging builds on the already strong design of the existing Mini Cheddars handypack and is easy to open and reseal. The sharing tubs are available in Original & Smokey BBQ flavours at an SSP of £1.35.

PEPERAMI FLAVOUR​Mini Cheddars Peperami flavour is the everyday snack which 'fills an animal sized hole' and has already proved a massive hit as a limited edition with its target market of 25-44 year olds. As a limited edition, the product reached the highest cash rate of sale of any 2002 limited edition snack in the everyday sector, delivering £1 million of retail sales.

Bosomworth says: "Limited edition flavours added £32m growth to the savoury snacks market in 2002 and are a successful strategy which enables top selling brands to create incremental sales for the operator. The most successful of these were products linked with other major brands, which then become permanent additions to the category. We are confident that the permanent Mini Cheddars Peperami flavour will see the same levels of success."

New Mini Cheddars Peperami features eye-catching packaging with the well-known Peperami character tearing out of the Mini Cheddars bag. This communicates the affiliation between the two brands personalities and creates maximum visibility on shelf. Mini Cheddars Peperami is available in a 50g handypack at a SSP of 35p and a 7 x 30g multipack at an SSP of £1.35.

UNLOCK THE POTENTIAL​New product development plays a vital role in attracting new buyers to the category, Over the last year it has largely contributed to the massive £146m Savoury Snacks market growth. UB Foodservice suggests that further growth can be achieved if operators maximise the opportunities created by NPD.

The Mini Cheddars brand is worth over £42 million and grew by over 15% last year. This year it is benefiting from an impressive £1.7 million marketing spend that has already seen the launch of a national poster campaign.
