A Derbyshire village freehouse, believed to date in part from the 16th Century, is set to reopen under new ownership. The Holly Bush Inn at Breedon on the Hill ceased trading at the end of 2001 and was marketed by Christie & Co on behalf of Kroll Buchler Phillips, the Joint LPA Receiver. The sale generated a tremendous amount of interest through Christie's Nottingham office and numerous offers in excess ofthe £300,000 asking price were received. The property was sold for an undisclosed figure to two couples Cymon and Janet Derry from Measham in Derbyshire, and Helen Carter and Steven Mayor. Carter and Mayor will take care of the day-to-day running of the business. Mayor is an experienced chef and Derry also has experience of the licensed trade. The partners are refurbishing the pub and plan to reopen it tomorrow. The property features an open-plan bar area, separate restaurant/function room, good-sized commercial kitchen, two letting bedrooms, owner's accommodation, basement cellar, beer garden and car park.
