The Buck Inn, described by selling agent Guy Simmonds as being in the "honey pot" village of Maunby, North Yorkshire, has come onto the market. The River Swale runs close to the village and director of new business at Guy Simmonds, Graham Allman, says the Buck is: "a remarkable quality freehouse in a most desirable setting offering a comfortable family home and well established business with immense untapped potential." The property is also adjacent to a well-known horse-racingstable run by trainer David Barron, who has sent out around 60 winners this season. The Buck Inn has a locals bar for 32 people, snug room for 12, lounge bar seating 30 and dining room for 22. Externally, there are four well-used quoits pitches, a garden area and parking for 25 vehicles. Allman says that historically the 250-year-old inn was used by drovers who used the ferry and loading point on the Swale for herding cattle to York market. Presently the business only trades at 44% of its permitted hours and misses the potential it has both as a destination food house and to capture business from the racing stables. The Buck Inn is on the market at an asking price of £425,000 for the freehold interest.
