A Warwickshire village pub is now in the hands of a local family partnership after the previous lessees decided to retire to Spain. The Oak & Black Dog in Stretton was placed on the market with Fleurets by Fred Davies and Stella Tunley, who had run the pub for the past five to six years. An asking price of £110,000 was sought for the lease. Davies and Tunley had built the trade from lowly levels and recently introduced evening food. This proved an attraction to the buyers, Sue Wagstaff and Geoff and Gail Hinks. Steve Rodell of Fleurets' Birmingham office, who handled the sale reported brisk interest. He said: "This was a very rare opportunity to acquire an extremely busy Warwickshire village pub, which is the hub of the community." l East Midlands-based pubco Hardys & Hansons has bought the Greyhound Hotel, near Matlock off an asking price of £550,000, in a sale recently conducted by the Birmingham office of Fleurets. Set in the historic Peak District village of Cromford, the property is grade-II listed and has a large bar, dining area, pool room, and 11 letting rooms.
