Actor Ray Liotta demands respect for Heineken in the latest advert from the Dutch lager brand.

Mr Liotta, who played the lead role in gangster movie Goodfellas, stars as an enforcer sent by the brewery to hunt down a drinker in the middle of the night after he failed to finish his pint of Heineken that evening.

He drags the drinker from his bed to the Heineken Brewery in Amsterdam to explain how Heineken is now a better beer than it ever has been.

Last year the Dutch beer's owners took the decision to get rid of the 3.4 per cent Heineken brewed under licence in the UK and replace it with the premium five per cent Dutch-brewed version.

"I enjoyed making this ad for Heineken and learning about how they make their beer. The idea of showing up on someone's doorstep at 3am and berating them for not respecting the beer kind of appealed to me," said Mr Liotta.

Richard Bradbury, on trade sales director for Heineken, said Mr Liotta's presence in the new adverts will help to drive home this message. "We've made Heineken better and blind tests support this. Drinkers are recognising this and paying a premium for the authentic Dutch import taste of Heineken."
