Carlsberg is supporting licensees during the FA Cup with a raft of initiatives. Carlsberg, which has pledged to spend £22m marketing its beer this year, plans a new advertising drive in national and local press, plus fresh radio commercials. In addition, the brewer hopes to create excitement in pubs by rolling out its promotional campaign "Your Club Needs You" which features a competition to win a night out at one of Carlsberg's "Official Beer Clubs".

KC Brands targets nEXt generation

KC Brands is eyeing up the next generation of cognac drinkers as it rolls out a new line. EX is a blend of raspberry and cognac, aimed at younger consumers, who the suppliers said were already drinking cognac mixed with fruit juice "to make it more palatable". The 17% abv spirit is designed to be drunk on its own or in cocktails and will cost £10 for a 70cl bottle.

Changes follow Robert Mondavi buyout

Constellation Europe is taking on responsibility for Robert Mondavi wines following the acquisition of the company late last year. The changes, which will start to take effect from next month, will result in Robert Mondavi's European office in Frankfurt closing as the sales and marketing role transfers to Constellation.

Pierhead brings in historic Shanghai

Pierhead is adding a Chinese beer to its portfolio of imported brews. Shanghai is said to be one of China's oldest beers, having been brewed since 1936. It will be available in cases of 24 350ml bottles, priced at £14.95.
