Bankruptcy - Can I keep my licence?

It is inevitable that we are going to declare bankrupt within the next few weeks. This is because trade takings are not enough to keep the business viable and we are in arrears with everything and have no hope of catching up. We have sought help and advise from three insolvency practitioners, CAB, the Credit Counselling Services and BusinessDebtline. I mentioned this to our BDM last week and then sent him a detailed email stating our situation, which is far too long to explain here. When he telephoned me after receiving the email he told me that my liquor licence would be null and void if we declare bankrupt. Is this correct? Who would make the decision that I cannot hold a licence? I would not have thought this would be affected. When times are better we are hoping to go back into the trade and it would be easier for me to obtain a new ten year licence now through grandfather rights than to have to surrender my licence and then in the future have to pay to go on a course to obtain one of the new ones. I know we have to surrender the lease when we are bankrupt but would we still be able to claim money for the fixture and fittings? We initially paid for these when we took over the pub and we have replaced just about everything and now the F & F are are worth about four times as much as we initially paid. Sandy
