Bar 05 saw yet another entry to the genuine imported bottled lager category in Krug. A 5.2 per cent ABV German beer, it is targeted at the aspirational 22-to-45-year-old market. The brand, which is brewed under the strict German Reinheitsgebot purity law, has secured sponsorship of the English Heritage summer concert season.

Feel the flavours

Drinks distributor Cellar Trends showcased the two flavours it is adding to its Luxardo range. Passione Rosa is a cranberry flavoured sambuca-based liqueur and Passione Ambra is cinnamon flavoured.

What's in a name?

Asked to name an alcoholic drink with an official EU designation of origin, most people would say champagne. Asked to name a gin with this status, a more informed observer would answer Plymouth gin. But now a new drinks company, Blue Island, is bringing the only other gin in the world with its own appellation to the UK. Xoriguer is from the island of Menorca and is produced in the port town of Mahon - a name the gin also goes by. Susannah Shepherd, managing director of Blue Island, is confident the brand will succeed as it will be familiar to the thousands of British holidaymakers who visit the island each year.

Global Brands get fresh

Global Brands has tapped into the growing trend for milk RTDs with an extension to its Corky's brand - Corky's Smoothie. The range includes two flavours, chocolate and strawberry, and both are made with fresh milk.

The latest call

Cocktail mix brand Finest Call has launched a new mojito cocktail mix. The rapidly growing range, which includes a new Sweet & Sour base mix, is aimed at bartenders looking to break into the cocktail market cost-effectively.

Bottlegreen additions

It unveiled its new blackcurrant pressé, as well as two new cordials: Dandelion & Burdock and Raspberry & Lovage. The company confirmed it would be investing £1.2m in its brands over the coming year.
