New from Adande is the VariCool Blast Chiller facility.

Blast chillers have the ability to reduce the temperature of food from 70°C to 3°C in under 90 minutes. The new Food Safety directive planned by the European Commission will include legislation on chilling food and will require that all catering facilities use blast chilling equipment to cool food. To ensure that caterers meet these obligations, Adande has added blast chiller capabilities to its established VariCool system.

This option, from £500, will allow one or two of the drawers to be used as a blast chiller as and when required, although the drawers can still operate as conventional storage, too.

Caravell has launched a new value-end range called Scanfrost.

Caravell also has a new Upright Service Chiller and Freezer range, which it describes as "aggressively priced", available in 148 litre, halfheight units and 315 litre or 508 litre fullheight units. There's a choice of white or stainless-steel exteriors and each comes with an integral lock.

Gastro Pro is available in three storage temperatures: Refrigerator (+1/+4°C); Meat/Chill (-2/+2°C): Freezer (-18/-21°C).

Each also comes with a front-loaded, cleanable air filter. Other features include self-closing, lockable doors, integrated electronic controls and automatic defrost. The fridges and freezers come with a full two-year parts and labour warranty.

Williams Refrigeration has launched a new Floating Wall movable partition wall for a dual compartment coldroom, offering a 50:50 or 60:40 split for refrigerator/frozen food storage.
