Top chefs have joined forces with food developers, catering suppliers and farmers to share their passion for quality beef and lamb.

Hosted by the English Beef and Lamb Executive (EBLEX) and Michelin starred chefs, John Campbell and Nigel Haworth, the 'Chef's Table: North Meets South' event took place at top restaurant The Vineyard at Stockcross, near Newbury.

With both John and Nigel sharing a passion and dedication for sourcing quality ingredients, each was keen to explain the provenance of the ingredients they were using to the assembled audience.

Hugh Judd, foodservice project manager for EBLEX, said: "The main aim of this event was to demonstrate just how important it is for caterers to work closely with their beef and lamb suppliers.

"Both John and Nigel were adamant that they will only source from quality suppliers who appreciate their exacting specifications for beef and lamb." John advised fellow chefs to encourage suppliers to sample their food, so that they can see for themselves exactly how they operate and what their requirements are. He also encouraged them to go and visit the farmers and butchers that supply them with their meat, so that they better understand how they can work together more efficiently and effectively.
