A new brew from India is making its debut in the UK as its distributor looks to plug the gap for drinks that complement Asian food.AdiAdi, which means new beginnings, is brewed and bottled in Madras for Essential Gardens, which claims the beer has a light, refreshing taste, ideal for Asian cuisine. The beer has already gained listings in a number of top Indian restaurants and will be supported by a £1m marketing push.

Jacob's Creek turns to screw cap

Jacob's Creek has relaunched its Riesling wine in a screw-cap format so that the wine tastes 'just as the winemaker intended. The company said the new cap would make the bottle easier to open, while also offering a better seal.

Robinson's powers up Lighthouse

Stockport-based brewer Frederic Robinson is launching a seasonal ale called Lighthouse, which will be brewed throughout September and October. The beer, which is said to give off toasted biscuit and mellow citrus flavours, has an abv of 4% and is available to Robinson's 400-strong estate in the north-west and north Wales, as well as the free trade through a national network of wholesalers.

Talisker to mark 175th annivesary

Diageo's Talisker malt whisky is being issued in a special bottle as it celebrates the brand's 175th anniversary. The 45.8% whisky will be specially vatted from hand-selected casks of a variety of ages. This year's bottles will feature specially designed anniversary labels, as well as a map of the Isle of Skye, home to the whisky's distillery. The distillery was built in 1830 by Hugh and Kenneth MacAskill, in the small coastal village of Carbost at the head of Loch Harport.

Vodka Kick gets behind football

Global Brands is splashing out on football advertising and sponsorship to raise awareness of its VK Vodka Kick brand. VK advertising boards will be displayed at the World Cup qualifying and Champions League matches as well as at various football venues including some Premiership grounds. The promo will target the drink's core market of 18 to 24-year-old male drinkers. VK is also away-kit sponsor for Chesterfield FC.
