Victoria Moon, joint director of the Peach Pub Company, describes the Fleece as a 'relaxed, all-day meeting place, where you see 20-year-olds standing next to 40-year-olds, who stand next to 60-year-olds all quite happily.
Business types come in for breakfast from 7.30am, women come in for coffees mid-morning and others will pop in for a drink later and end up staying for food. While it is not a gastro pub, which Moon believes is a restaurant in a pub building, she claims the food is of gastro pub quality.
The pub's aim is that a young female should be able to visit alone for a coffee and not feel intimidated.
The crowd-pleasing menu runs from stone-baked pizzas and antipasti to roast rack of lamb, fennel and chick pea salad to roasted chicken breast, sun-dried tomato and rocket muffin.
Bar sales are dominated by wine and ales that include Old Speckled Hen and Morland Original Bitter.
While people do travel from afar for the food, Moon says the pub relies heavily on the local trade.
