'We only applied for an extension at the weekends, so will be open to normal time on 24 November. We haven't heard anything back about our application yet but no-one objected. We're just going to let it happen quietly here. We're very rural so it won't be like the big towns and cities where people are expecting much longer hours. It'll be interesting to see what happens.'

'We'll be open from Friday morning right through until Sunday midnight. We're going to have live music to mark the occasion and the locals are very excited - many have booked the Monday and Tuesday off work to recover. We've ordered extra drink and extra staff. People know this is a family-run pub and if people have a query or the music is too loud they can ask me to turn it down.'

'We're closing this week for a major refurbishment and we're hoping to open in time for 24 November because it would be great to start trading in a newly refurbished pub with our new hours. We haven't planned anything else in case the refurb takes longer.'

'I'm going to monitor the situation. It won't be a big event because there has been no consultation with managers. I've got a licence from 9am to 3am, but don't plan to use it every day. I can't afford the additional overheads and we work hard enough as it is. I don't think the extra hours will come into play until the summer.'
