Letting off Steam - What are your views on the Government's plans to ban smoking
What are your views on the Government's plans to ban smoking only in pubs that serve food, rather than all pubs?

"We serve food, so we welcome it. We've only been operating for two months, but we deliberately set the pub up to be nonsmoking. We don't want to work in a smoking environment.
"We've just put up an awning and a heat lamp outside in the patio area for the benefit of smokers so they can still pop out during winter. We've had no customer complaints."
Sean Peck, head chef, Kirkstile Inn, Cockermouth, Cumbria
"I think it's a good thing. Since January, we introduced a smoking ban because we wanted to be one of the first pubs to implement it. Initially some of our locals who smoke were interested to know why we had become a non-smoking pub - we told them we were reacting to Government plans for imposing a smoking ban."
Paul Giles-Phillips, licensee, the Ebrington Arms, Braunton, Devon
"The Government needs to go all out and do a total ban on all pubs otherwise it's unfair - where's the justice?
There can't be one rule for one and one rule for another. What's the difference between someone sitting at a table or
drinking at a bar when you can give customers the choice to eat in a separate non smoking dining area and bar - this works perfectly well. I never get any complaints."
