All licensees should take the time to write to their MP today or risk clubs being exempt from a smoke ban - that's the message from the BBPA.

Communications director Mark Hastings told morningadvertiser.co.uk it is imperative licensees lobby their MP ahead of this month's vote.

"It's absolutely critical to ensure member's club are included in any ban," said Hastings. "MPs will vote on whether to include member's clubs in the new smoking legislation before they vote on the legislation itself. We as an industry must ensure the first vote goes in favour of including member's clubs. So we are urging all licensees to write to their MP."

The vote is expected to be held on February 14 meaning licensees have just ten days to lobby their MP.

The British Beer and Pub Association and morningadvertiser.co.uk have joined forces to provide licensees with a form which can be downloaded and sent to your MP.

To download the form you will need Adobe Acrobat which is a free program that you can download and install from here, just follow the steps online.

You can download our form by clicking here. Simply print out the form and fill it out and send it on to your local MP. The form can be folded in half and stuck together to make a postcard - or simply place it in an envelope.

To find out who your MP is click on this link and enter your postcode in the top box.

You may be able to email them directly from the MP locator site.
