As the smoke vote looms the Welsh arm of trade union the TUC has called on MPs to back a complete ban for pubs and clubs.

"This is a simple issue of principle for us," said Derek Walker, Wales TUC head of policy and campaigns, "People at work should be protected from poisons, and second hand smoke is a known killer.

"Workers in the hospitality trade deserve protection just as much as those that work with dangerous chemicals."

"None of the compromises and exemptions that have been discussed get round this basic principle.

"Air conditioning and ventilation can get rid of the smell, but not all the toxins in cigarette smoke - it can make bar work less unpleasant, but it doesn't protect the health of staff.

"People who work in members' clubs are just as much in need of protection as those who work in pubs."

The British Beer and Pub Association and morningadvertiser.co.uk have joined forces to provide licensees with a form which can be downloaded and sent to your MP.

To download the form you will need Adobe Acrobat which is a free program that you can download and install from here, just follow the steps online.

You can download our form by clicking here. Simply print out the form and fill it out and send it on to your local MP. The form can be folded in half and stuck together to make a postcard - or simply place it in an envelope.
