UPC pubs hoping to score during World Cup
The Union Pub Company (UPC) is offering tenants a support package to help them stay ahead of the game during the World Cup.
Licensees can get free workshops, special offers and promotional packs devised to drive trade and boost food and drink turnover during the World Cup
The packs include outdoor banners, flag kits, posters, t-shirts, branded glassware, and POS, all designed to promote pubs as place to watch the match.
UPC Pubs will soon be able to start building their campaigns with a spring promotion offering drinkers the chance to win World Cup tickets.
Andrew Cooney, commercial director at UPC, said: "With 28 days of football, 65 matches, and great kick-off times to boot, the World Cup will provide pubs with a huge trade-driver. The big plus is that all the coverage is on terrestrial TV. We want to ensure that our tenants are able to capitalise on this."
UPC is running a series of practical training workshops aimed at pubs with limited catering facilities, which are looking to make the most of food sales. We want to ensure that our tenants are able to capitalise on the World CupAndrew Cooney, commercial director at UPC
As part of this support, 'World Cup Platter' menus and recipes will be available on UPC's union online portal.
Ben Bartlett, UPC's catering development manager, explained: "Initially, the aim was to add value to our catering support during the World Cup, with special POS and a DVD. But we will be rolling this out beyond the event as many German dishes are quick and easy for any pub to prepare, such as Frankfurters, and can be offered all year round, bringing in new flavours to a menu."
