He says that the 16 employees have rallied round him during a difficult personal time to ensure that he didn't have to deal with any unnecessary stress from work. Many of the team are long-standing members, ranging from returning students to assistant manager Joe who has worked at the pub for eight years. Craig says: "I've been in the trade for twenty years and I've never been able to trust anyone as I do him."
Craig also credits the staff with being versatile enough to dance behind the bar in the main area to walking through the curtain to the lounge and greeting the customers with a "Good evening Sir".
The pub is a centre-point for the small community and has regular events and fundraisers from pig roasts to bungee jumps. In August it holds a music festival, where barman-come-guitar maestro Sam strums out a few songs.
Sam also entertains the staff on their regular lock-ins. "We'll order a couple of pizzas after work and Sam will get the guitar out and play a few tunes," Craig says.
Craig plans to repay his staff's hard work and kindness with a bit of a jolly after the World Cup because as he says: "I'm so very proud of them and they really deserve it."
