Bloody football. They let us down every time, don't they? Not the players, bless them, but our regulars. When that last Portugese penalty went in, they burnt all my St George's Cross napkins and tablecloths in the car park, so I can't even tuck them away for Euro 2008. We are selling a lot of our special Wayne Rooney Sundae though - it's a thick raspberry fool garnished with vigorously crushed nuts.

McDougalls Fish Batter Mix

I've been having a few issues with limp goujons recently, but I suppose it's just the heat. Fortunately, McDougalls Fish Batter Mix is ideal for creating light and fluffy batter in minutes. It's ready to use and simply needs mixing with water. It's not only delicious with codand haddock, but by adding spices you can offer more exotic fare such as smoky Louisiana prawns - add paprika to the fish batter, coat and fry the prawns, then serve on a bed of finely shredded lettuce with dipping sauces. Perfect for summer sharing.

Carte d'Or Culinary Sweet

I've always said there's no substitute for real cream, but I've been converted by Carte d'Or Culinary Sweet. It's an easy-to-use alternative to cream that means it can be used for whipping, topping, or as an ingredient in a range of puddings. It also performs well when added to a hot ingredient, such as toffee sauce, and I have to say, it's worked wonders with my mum's recipe for Spotted Dick Surprise - they can't get enough of it around here. It comes in one-litre Tetra Paks and has a six-month ambient shelf life.

Couzin Jacks Biltong

As you know, I'm constantly trying to make our snacks shelf a bit more interesting. My latest attempt is Couzin Jacks Biltong. It's naturally low in fat, made using traditional South African methods and is marinated using a family recipe. It's available in Traditional, Garlic or Peri Peri flavours. I'm not sure what my cousin Jack would make of it, though. I've only ever seen him eat pork scratchings.

Dorset Cereals individual packs

I'm seriously thinking about upping our breakfast offer - we do a good line in bacon sandwiches, but if we offer something a bit healthier we might build even more trade. Dorset Cereals has launched its range of cereals in new 100g individual packs, with five recipes including Berries & Cherries, Super Cranberry, Cherry & Almonds, Super High Fibre, Really Nutty Muesli and Fruit, Nuts & Seeds. I don't think you get a plastic toy in the box, though. I had the whole set of Tony the Tiger models.

Délifrance morning goods

I always like to start the day with something French, and now we're doing morning coffees, the new Délifrance range of frozen, fully bakedmorning goods is just the ticket. It includes pain au chocolat, pain aux raisins and mini pain aux raisins. No good for my hips, though.

Westlers Reduced Salt range

Honestly, I had another mum giving me a hard time the other day about our kids' menu. I am trying to make it healthier, honest. Thankfully, Westler Foods now has a range of products which are ideal, including Reduced Salt and Fat Hot Dogs, Reduced Salt Meatballs in Tomato Sauce, and Mini Hot Dogs in Tomato Sauce, which are chicken and pork sausages low in salt and fat. Now, I need to persuade the mums to lay off the lunchtime drinking - it can get quite rowdy at the school gates by 3.30pm and I know the Head blames me.

James White Drinks Apple & Summer Berries

There are so many juice drinks around now, aren't there? I'm sure there didn't used to be so many fruits when I was starting out. Guava - what's that all about? This is nice, though, the new Apple & Summer Berries variety from James White Drinks, made from clear-filtered farm-pressed English apple juices. It comes in 25cl and 75cl and is proving very popular with some of the girls we get in at lunchtime. I shouldn't tell you this, but it also goes quite nicely with a vodka, too.

Hellmann's Will YourSandwich Make It? Professional Competition

Over the years, my baps have received many compliments, so I thought I'd give them an airing for the Hellmann's Will Your Sandwich Make It? Professional Competition. The winner will feature in a new Hellmann's recipe booklet, as well as receiving a £1,000 cash prize. I'll need to hurry, though, the closing date is July 31. Time to get spreading!
