The new Nature's Goodness potato range from Farm Frites is the first foodservice product range to use the Food Standards Agency (FSA) traffic light labelling system.

The system provides information on fat, saturated fat, sugar and salt content, with red, amber and green representing high, medium and low levels. Nature's Goodness gets the green light in three out of four categories.

The products are designed to allow pubs to advertise low salt and fat potato products on their menu, but without losing the indulgence attraction of potato products. As well as chips, the brand includes fries, skin-on wedges, mash, a luxury mash with added omega oils and a swede and carrot mash.

The range can be oven-cooked, and the mash is microwaveable. All products - when compared to Farm Frites standard range counterparts - contain:

  • 50 per cent less fat
  • 70 per cent less saturated fat (when fried in oil with less than 30 per cent saturated fat)
  • 30 per cent less calories.

Nadia Adrien, commercial director from Farm Frites, says the range allows pubs to offer a lower-fat alternative without the hassle of preparing it themselves.

"By advertising this on the menu outlets can appeal to not only the health conscious consumer but also to those consumers who will eat a healthy-style chip so they can order a dessert, which offers greater profit potential."

Nature's Goodness is also a member of the Foodservice Rewards programme, allowing pubs to collect points as they spend.
