The White Horse in London's Parson's Green has, for the second year running, been named the UK's top pub, in a poll of more than 500 industry experts.

The list of the nation's 20 best pubs is compiled exclusively by the Morning Advertiser and is based on the views of leading figures in the industry.

Voters singled out the White Horse for its food and unrivalled range of 150 world beers, which customers are encouraged to try with their meal instead of wine. There's now a bigger variety with more elaborate and greater choice than there has ever been.Mark Dorber

Mark Dorber, who has been at the Mitchells & Butlers pub for 25 years, said: "We continue to give a lot of attention to beer and have extended our list. We also offer quality food that has also got better and better.

"There's now a bigger variety with more elaborate and greater choice than there has ever been."

The White Horse beat stiff competition from other well-known pubs that have already notched up a number of accolades as well as a few lesser-known gems.

News of the win comes as Dorber prepares to leave the London pub to concentrate on his second outlet - the Adnams-owned Anchor at Walberswick in Suffolk which he runs with his wife, Sophie.

Dorber said he also plans to open another pub in the county."We have been looking at a few places in Suffolk and would like to take on a freehouse.

"We aim to leave the White Horse by next March and have the new pub by next summer."
