A famous music pub in Scotland has come on to the market.

The Bein Inn at Glenfarg in Perthshire won the Music Pub of the Year Award in 2002 and was runner up in 2004 and is being offered for sale through agent Christie+Co.

Proprietor David Mundell bought the pub in 1999 and has decided to retire.

The outlet attracts an un-usual mix of trade including a traditional client base for morning coffee, food and use of the letting rooms.

It also attracts fans of pop and rock music and artists like Curtis Stigers and Gene Parsons from the Byrds have played at the venue.

Offers greater than £600,000 are being invited for the freehold, which features a public bar and lounge bar, reception lounge, 55-cover restaurant or function room and 12 letting rooms.

There is also two-bedroom owner's accommodation, plus four bedrooms that are used for staff accommodation.

The pub is six miles south of Perth and dates back to 1861. It was originally used as a resting place for travellers en route from Edinburgh to the Highlands.

Christie+Co director Denis Hillier said: "The Bein Inn offers a rare opportunity for someone, particularly with a musical bent, to acquire a fantastic country inn within a beautiful setting.

"The business trades well, showing good profits and has become an important venue in musical circles, as well as being appreciated by the traditional traveller."
