The Licensed Trade Charity swaps old for new

Pubs have always played a vital role in raising money - both for local causes close to the community's heart and for national charities that have helped customers or local residents.

Over the years, licensees have also collected essential funds for colleagues in the trade who have approached the Licensed Trade Charity (LTC) for assistance. To help attract donations, the charity has produced collection vessels in a variety of formats and designs.

Now the organisation would like to hear from people in the trade who still have old-style collection pots.

"We're inviting anyone with an old-style collecting pot to swap it for a new version,"

said director of marketing and charity services Liz Gaffer.

"Using our LTC collection vessel is a very easy way to help the charity to raise funds.

"Keeping a pot on the bar and encouraging customers to drop in their spare change - after buying a round, for example - can be amazingly effective. Every penny donated contributes to helping someone who desperately needs it."

Anyone with a "retro" collection pot in their pub or bar and who would like to receive this year's pick of the pots should contact the LTC fundraising team on 01344 844 440.

In a blast from the past, the LTC has compiled a "Top of the Pots", featuring selected collection boxes, their release date and this week's top record in the pop charts in the year each box was introduced.
