The pies have it

Brakes has launched two contemporary-style fully-baked square pies, made with a luxurious, butter-enriched pastry.

Brakes square pies are filled with beef

steak, onion and rich gravy or chicken, leek

and ham.

The pies are ready to serve in six minutes from the freezer - they take four minutes in

the microwave and two minutes to finish in

the oven.

Brakes says the pastry remains crisp as if baked in an oven for 30 minutes. Brakes chicken, leek & ham square pie is prepared with roast chicken and a creamy white sauce made with full fat soft cheese.

Both pies come in 300g sizes, 12 to a pack with a list price of £29.95 per pack (£2.50

per pie).

Turn a Quorner

Quorn has introduced new Quorn Dippers to its range and says that the product will give licensees a great new vegetarian dish or addition to the children's menu.

The dippers are coated in a light tempura

batter and can be baked in the oven from

frozen in 15 minutes.

Quorn says: "The familiar product will appeal to kids as they will have undoubtedly seen or tried the chicken version. Parents can encourage children try this healthier alternative and know that it meets nutritional requirements."

Quorn also suggests serving the dippers as a sharing plate with dips or with a tomato salsa for a light bite.

Quorn products are made from a

mycoprotein, which is low in fat, and contain

no additives or artificial colours.

Currying flavours

Roberts of Port Dinorwic has developed a new range of pre-prepared curry dishes for pubs.

The range has been launched with three products initially - a seafood curry made with flaky cod, king prawns, Thai spices and coconut milk, a tikka masala and a korma dish.

Marketing manager Miriam Roberts says: "The development by Roberts of a range of authentic curry dishes is part of an exciting

on-going new product development move to offer a complete range of ethnic cuisine."

Roberts claims its dishes are made from

ingredients that are low in salt and fat, as well as free from additives. The products are supplied frozen or chilled in sealed plastic pouches.
