The International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES) has called for a complete ban on cod fishing in the North Sea for 2007. Book launch for gastropub chef

Chef Trish Hilferty has launched a book of classic gastropub recipes.

Hilferty worked with gastropub entrepeneur Michael Belben at the Eagle, in Farringdon, London, before becoming head chef at Belben's other London venture the Fox, in Shoreditch, which he has just sold.

Hilferty has now left the Fox and is currently doing consultancy and food-styling work.

Gastropub Classics includes 150 gastropub recipes and is out next week. Hilferty said: "This book represents the food I enjoy eating and the food I love to cook. Rustic French and Italian dishes sit side by side with sturdy, old-fashioned British offerings. It is precisely this freedom that defines the best gastropub cooking." Gastropub Classics costs £20.
