Chalky's Bite

A new brew from Sharp's Brewery in Cornwall that has been developed with celebrity chef Rick Stein as an ideal beer to accompany fish

I like the bottle, I think it looks quite stylish. The label is not really like anything else I've seen.

My only worry was that

the bottles looked quite small.

The beer is very drinkable and I really enjoyed the taste.

I don't know if it is the fennel that is used in the brewing process but it is full of flavour, but not over-powering.

I would definitely drink it again.

I would buy it if I was out and it would also be a nice drink to savour if I was just staying in.

The danger is its strength. I was already drinking my second bottle when I thought I'd better see how strong it was.

I was surprised to find it was 6.8% abv - and I soon started to feel it.

I don't think I could drink a lot of it because the abv is that high.

I normally drink Stella Artois or Magners, depending on how I'm feeling, but I think I might add this to the mix as well now - that is, if I can find it.

I think the ideal occasion for drinking this beer would be with a meal.

It is the sort if drink that would work really well, served with a nice dinner.

Score: 15/20
