Thwaites on the Ball with new appointment

Brewer and pub operator Daniel Thwaites has appointed Richard Ball to its marketing team.

Ball brings a wealth of knowledge to the Lancashire-based company having spent 14 years in a host of different roles with Carlsberg.

He said: "This is a great time to join Daniel Thwaites with a real buzz surrounding the business as the company embarks on a year of celebrations to mark two centuries of trading - that is certainly an area we will be looking to leverage for the retail business.​

"The Thwaites name is held in great affection in the areas surrounding the brewery, so people visiting our retail outlets in those parts of Lancashire are aware of the company's pedigree and quality of product - our challenge is to spread that knowledge further a field.

He also believe Thwaites can take advantage of the smoking ban.

He said: "Our team has spent a lot of time studying the impact of the ban on Scotland and Ireland, and the development team are already trialing structures to offer pubs as external smoking areas.​

"On top of that we have a great food development team who can help businesses grow their food offer and encourage new trade that way, so the message really is that Thwaites pubs should feel supported and positive through this change."
