Whether it's the round or the oval ballthat draws the crowds to your pub, there's plenty to get the place rocking this weekend.

International rugby union dominates the schedules on Saturday, while on Sunday the focus switches to football and the Carling Cup final.

All six of rugby's Six Nations sides will play on Saturday. Scotland and Italy get things started, but it's the day's second and third matches that should attract the most attention.

Following a positive start under new head coach Brian Ashton, England face their sternest test of the campaign so far when they take on a strengthened Ireland side at Croke Park, Dublin.

It will be England's first visit to the ground, and for Ireland only the second time they have played there - a last-minute loss to France in their first home match of the tournament left the men in green feeling blue.

England hope to make it three wins out of three for 2007, but their opposition are looking to bounce straight back. The return of Ireland captain Brian O'Driscoll could be telling. Coverage of the Ireland-England clash starts at 5.05pm on BBC1, for a 5.30pm kick-off.

For Wales, the trip to France looks daunting. Wales are in dire need of a win, having lost both their games so far, but the French will be in no mood to help them out after suffering defeat at the Millennium Stadium last year. Tune in to BBC2 at 8.00pm for all the action from Paris.

On Sunday, Arsenal and Chelsea contest the Carling Cup final. It's crunch time, as the first of this year's silverware is up for grabs. The Gunners and the Blues have both fought hard to get to the Millennium Stadium, and will hope to get the better of their London rivals. Depending on the draws, the sides could meet again soon in the Champions League and the FA Cup. Let battle commence. Kick-off is at 3.00pm on SS1.
