A Scottish pub that featured in the classic Bill Forsyth film, Local Hero, has come onto the market. The 1983 film, shot in Pennan, Aberdeenshire, starred Burt Lancaster and Peter Riegert.

The Pennan Inn and the traditional red phone box opposite provided an important setting for the film and fans regularly visit the pub to have photographs taken.

The phone box has become iconic and receives the most calls of any in Scotland from international movie buffs.

The pub is 70% food-led and features a public bar, two restaurant areas, six en-suite letting bedrooms and an owners' flat.

Sellers Vince and Louise Melvin have owned the business since 2005 and have carried out a major refurbishment project.

The Pennan Inn is on the market with Christie+Co who are looking for offers over £425,000 for the freehold interest.

Barry McNeil of Christie+

Co said: "This is a unique and fantastic opportunity for motivated and discerning purchasers.

"This business would undoubtedly suit those who are interested in food as well as those who seek a strong investment opportunity."
