Fuzzy Ed to give parents a break
Orchid Group, the company set up by private equity firm GI Partners to run 290 former Spirit pubs, plans to open a new child-friendly dining concept called Fuzzy Ed's at 19 sites before the end of the year.
Four new sites are to open in May - in Middlewich, Granham, Paisley and Wellingborough - with a further 15 planned before the end of the year.
Commercial director Simon Dodd said: "The Fuzzy Ed's Fun House is a play centre revolution, developed on the back of intensive research. It aims to educate and stimulate children through entertainment and provides parents with the opportunity to enjoy a well-deserved break and relax whilst dining out with their family."
The Fun House concept aims to combine fun with education in a setting that is safe and family-focused. Equipped with state-of-the-art play equipment, all safety checked to the highest standards and developed to get the most out of children's sense of adventure, search for knowledge and ability to have lots of fun, children can enjoy ball pools, slides and aerial swings.
Fuzzy Ed's Fun House comes complete with its own set of cartoon characters, The Fuzzoids, a gang of fluffy, friendly monsters with robotic arms and legs from Planet Fuzz. Clearly zoned environments provide lounge-style seating for extended dining, poser-style tables for quick bites or drinks, as well as the more typical restaurant-style seated table dining areas.
A warm, friendly and relaxed environment is created using a carefully selected palate of colours, a mixture of fabrics and textures with the overall look retaining a balance between traditional elements and stylish contemporary features.
