There are two ways for the average pub to look on that flash style bar down the road. One is to ignore it and pretend it's got nothing to do with what you're doing. The other is to take notice and learn from the cutting edge ideas that are introduced at this end of the trade.

Trends frequently filter through from style bars into the mainstream, not least cocktails, and there may be opportunities to adapt the ideas of some of the world's most innovative operators, even in the most modest of pubs.

A few hours spent at BAR.07, coming to London in a couple of weeks, could be the inspiration you need.

Run by our sister publication Theme, Bar.07 offers everyone involved in the licensed trade an insight into the future of hospitality.

Established as the unrivalled event for the bar industry, it provides a professional exhibition for the UK bar scene and creates a unique environment to provide the latest information, advice and education for a fast-moving industry.

Bringing together more than 200 exhibitors including leading brands as well as unique specialist suppliers a range of niche products, stylish innovations, new product launches and premium brand promotions will be on show. Now in its eighth year, BAR also provides a lively educational forum to pick up the latest information, advice and inspiration for your business.

BAR has a proven track record of attracting leading brands and specialist suppliers and BAR 07 will be no exception.

With 95 per cent of stands already sold and an exhibitor list comprising of some of the biggest names in the industry (see page 56), this year's event promises to inspire and excite.

Tobacco companies in particular will be making the most of BAR.07 as one of the last chances they have to actively promote products on their stands. It will be one of the last events in England where smoking is permitted inside the venue before the smoking ban comes into effect on July 1.

Tickets to BAR cost £20 on the door - but professionals working in the licensed trade can register free at www.barshow.co.uk.
