Yesteryear sells off 9 venues
Yesteryear Pub Company, founded by Tony Callaghan (pictured), is selling nine of its north-west sites.
Yesteryear has put up for sale The Bowling Green and Number Fifteen in Ashton-under-Lyne; Maloneys in Bolton; Number Fifteen in Chorley; Number Fifteen in Macclesfield; Maloneys and Number Fifteen in Oldham; The Jazz Bar in Preston and Maloney's in St Helens.
The sites are being marketed by Christie & Co.
"All the bars are viable going concerns, some with recent significant investment - and we expect to sell them in a seamless process to new owners and operators," said Callaghan.
"I have been carefully assessing and considering the direction of my business for some time, and I have now settled on a clear-cut plan from the perspectives of both geography and the type of bar I want to be owning and operating.
"I have identified precisely the bars I want to acquire, and they tie in very closely if not perfectly with the way I see Yesteryear progressing.
"Once I have sold the nine bars I've named, I'll have cleared my decks and have the time and space to be able to move Yesteryear in the direction I have planned, and will announce precisely what I have in mind."
Yesteryear currently owns 25 bars, several branded "Fifteen", the remainder unbranded independent pubs and bars.
The company emerged from a brief period of administration last year with Callaghan buying the vast majority of its sites.
