Fuller's has completed the off-market purchase of the renowned Ivy House in Chalfont St Giles, in Buckinghamshire. The London brewer and operator bought the pub from Anthony and Jane Mears for an undisclosed figure.

Anthony Mears is deputy treasurer of the BII (British Institute of Innkeeping) and chairman of the organisation's Thames Valley Region.

The pub will be operated as a managed house by Audrey Barrett, who was the manager for the previous owners.

The pub is well known in the area for its cask ale, wine and food, described as "high-quality English fare".

The pub comprises three main areas: a bar and a 40-cover dining area and garden with seating. Sales are split 40:60 in favour of food.

Fuller's Inns managing director Simon Emeny said: "The Ivy House is a great purchase for Fuller's.

"Anthony and Jane would only sell to a like-minded retailer, and Fuller's shares their traditional values."

He added: "We always aim to run the best pub in an area, by offering outstanding cask-conditioned ales, delicious food, great wines and exemplary service. These are in place at Ivy House and I look forward to continuing to provide excellent standards of hospitality to Chalfont St Giles' residents."

The acquisition brings the Fuller's estate to 364 pubs.
