St Austell pays Tribute to South West rugby
St Austell Brewery is backing local rugby in by signing up its flagship beer Tribute as the main sponsor for 14 South West Leagues.
The sponsorship will encompass 157 rugby teams competing in leagues level six and below, playing in the three counties, and makes Tribute the official beer of South West rugby. A new Tribute advertising campaign will launch next week.
St Austell Brewery is no strangers to rugby, and already sponsor a number of individual clubs including Redruth, St Austell, Newquay Hornets, Hayle and St Ives.
James Staughton, managing director of St Austell Brewery, said: "As a South West based family firm for the past 156 years we're delighted to be supporting the region's rugby clubs, which have such strong links with our local communities in Cornwall, Devon and Somerset. We think it is particularly fitting that Tribute, as the South West's favourite real ale, should be supporting the South West's favourite sport.
Jeremy Mitchell, marketing director at St Austell, stressed that the deal would be a great platform to spread the message of Tribute beyond that of Cornwall and into neighbouring counties.
"We want Tribute to be the number one cask ale throughout our South West trading region. A love of rugby is something that is shared across the South West counties and will appeal to our customers whether they be in Cornwall, Somerset or Devon.
The sponsorship will be supported in the participating rugby clubs with branded match balls, perimeter boards and plenty of opportunities to taste Tribute. We are also using the sponsorship to launch a new Tribute brand advertising campaign which will launch next weekend across the South West."
