Carlsberg has signed Bryan Ferry to front the latest TV commercial in its "World According to Carlsberg" campaign as part of a £13m push.

The Roxy Music singer helps carry on the idea of "how great the world would be if only everything was as good as a Carlsberg" in a commercial first aired during the opening ceremony of the 2007 Rugby World Cup last Friday.

The advert opens with three lads arriving by helicopter at the back-stage area of a festival arena, where they are treated like famous rock stars. They bump into Ferry and sign autographs for him, before he heads to his support act dressing room. The trio walk out on stage to thousands of cheering fans and launch into a rendition of Martha and the Vandellas' Dancing in the Street. The camera then pulls back to reveal that they are singing from a karaoke machine, before closing with the line: "Carlsberg don't do karaoke nights, but if they did, they'd probably be the best karaoke nights in the world."

Marketing director at Carlsberg UK Darran Britton said: "Karaoke is another brilliant advert in the 'World According to Carlsberg' campaign and we are sure that it will be a hit with lager drinkers across the country. Not many adverts can boast 25,000 extras and a music legend such as Bryan Ferry."
