Golf-loving licensees and their customers have the chance to play championship golf at top European course La Manga in July if they enter The Publican Pub Golf Tournament 2008.

Sponsored by London brewer Fuller's and its London Pride brand, the event involves pub teams competing in qualifying rounds in England, Scotland and Wales for the honour of jetting off to La Manga, in southern Spain. There, they will challenge each other for the Pub Golf National Final Trophy.

All amateur golfers aged 18 or over are eligible. Ladies and mixed teams are welcome, with the maximum handicap being 24 shots for men and 30 for women.

Teeing off with area heats followed by area finals, the winning teams go through to a two-day regional final played at four of Britain's most prestigious courses. Staverton Park, in Daventry, is the venue for the Midlands regional final, while finalists from Scotland and the north of England will play at Wychwood Park in Cheshire. Dartmouth Golf and Country Club will be the venue for the South Wales and West of England regional final, and Wokefield Park, Reading, for the South East.

Area heats begin on 13 March, and the 16 winners jet off to La Manga for the Grand Final held between July 10-13.

The Publican Pub Golf Tournament is in its 16th year, and last year saw 4,492 golfers participating under the names of their local pub.
