Call for "safety awareness" publisher to be wound up
The alleged tactics of Glade Solutions Limited mirror those of firms that have conned licensees

The Government has launched a bid to wind up a company that allegedly sold ads in non-existent wall-planners.

The alleged tactics of Glade Solutions Limited, of Pickford Street, Manchester, mirror those of firms that have conned licensees out of hundreds of pounds.

A statement from the Insolvency Service said: "The Secretary of State for Business, Enterprise & Regulatory Reform has presented a petition in the High Court to wind up Glade Solutions Limited in the public interest.

"The company based in Manchester carried on business nationally selling advertising space in Safety Awareness wall-planners, none of which was ever produced.

"Potential customers were targeted in telephone calls sourced from the business pages of Yellow Pages covering the UK.

"The petition to wind up the company was presented following an investigation carried out by Companies Investigation Branch under section 447 of the Companies Act 1985 (as amended). The Official Receiver has been appointed provisional liquidator of the company pending the hearing of the petition."

The petition is to be heard in the High Court on 19 February.
