Amy Winehouse and Kate Moss campaign to save pub
Amy Winehouse and Kate Moss are heading up a campaign to save an historic London pub.
The celebrity pair have been roped in to help save the George Tavern on Commercial Road in London's East End from developers wishing to build 11 flats next door to the pub.
"The George is the best music, performance and arts venue in the East End," said licensee Pauline Foster (pictured with Kate Moss).
"The George Tavern gives local residents opportunities to perform, exhibit and enjoy a wealth of creativity.
"All these activities rely on licenses and residential development attached or next to The George Tavern puts these licenses at risk.
"The George Tavern is a huge asset to Tower Hamlets and should not be put at risk for just 11 flats."
Foster said she had received little response from councillors and so had now sought out two high-profile celebrities to help the cause.
"We are calling on all our friends to help us Save The George Tavern - and first to put their name to the campaign were Amy Winehouse and Kate Moss."
