Beer brewed for Barnsley's FA Cup giantkillers
Football heroes from Barnsley have had a beer brewed in their honour to celebrate their successful FA Cup run.
So far this year the Championship side have knocked Premier League giants Liverpool and Chelsea out of the competition to book a semi-final place at Wembley against Cardiff City.
And to mark the ocassion Barnsley's Acorn Brewery has produced a special cask ale - Barnsley Glory.
Brewery owner Dave Hughes said: "The team here is fanatical about the Reds, so once they had come back to earth after the Chelsea win we tackled the serious business of coming up with a suitable brew. Barnsley's Glory is a robust ale that we think will be a big winner, just like the Reds.
"The post-match euphoria gave us a 20 per cent surge in trade for our Barnsley Bitter and Barnsley Gold, so we expect Barnsley Glory to do very well over the next few weeks because of the tremendous support the club is receiving from everyone in the town."
He added that the 4.7 per cent ABV beer is "brewed with a hat-trick of malts and a brace of hops - Challenger and Admiral - to give the beer a great winning formula."
At the Oakwood Beer Festival last month Barnsley Bitter was first proclaimed Yorkshire's top standard strength ale before being awarded a bronze in the overall championship.
Barnsley take on Cardiff in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley on April 6.
